I made some more changes because I found some issues but here is the one that works for the forum in the root.

This works a bit different in that you will need to click the link to upload again when you go to the album to upload so the upload form will show.

After some more details fixed here is the last version for people with their forum in the root. It may not be elegant but it works...

I have just been alerted that I left my own link in the gallery.php it is at the very top attached to the title. Just replace it with /gallery

Here is a new version for install in the root which might work better than the last one.
Please replace the gallery.php with this one if your install is in the root.

Yes I synced it several days ago that zip up there is only for people with install in the root
