[HowTo] Upgrade from a older version of Vanilla to a newer version (Fixed Edition)

edited October 2013 in General Banter

1: Download your version of Vanilla you want to upgrade to

2: Backup your database using phpMyAdmin or the Vanilla Porter found in the Core Section of Addons

3: Open your FTP client (if you don't have one, I recommend FileZilla)

4: Once you make sure you backup your database, DELETE your entire Vanilla folder (with Caution making sure you don't delete anything else) using FTP (your FTP client)

5: Upload your new Vanilla install (The one you downloaded) using FTP once again

6: Go to your new vanilla install and end the domain with /index.php?p=utility/update and let it update. Answer any questions it may give you

7: Enjoy your new Vanilla install! If there's anything left out, comment please!

  • This doesn't account for plugins, themes, locales, or uploads that are contained within the Vanilla folder.

  • That's why I closed it. It's more advisable to look at the Vanilla Wiki Upgrade page
