i realise that this may not be being actively developed at the moment, but would it be an easy addition for someone to add?

Yup.

1. Register a 'Plugins.Spoilers.View' permission.
2. Modify the RenderSpoilers function to check for the permission.
3. If they don't have the permission, spit out a message saying they don't have permission to view spoilers (this is optional, imo)
4. If they do, just let it do it's thang.
