Mobile - comment or new discussion problem

i tried to create a new topic as well as tried to post comments.

It seems comment is working with ajax. But there is no indication to know that comment is being published.
So, i believe it will create duplicate comments and new discussions.

Is that only me facing this problem?
Android 2.3
Vanilla latest version

Did you not understand what i meant?

    Use vanillaforums in mobile phone.
I am using android version 2.3

(Yesterday, I created this topic in my mobile. Everything is in same line instead of new line.)

Anyway, I clicked "Add a comment"
After typed something, i again clicked "Post Comment"

I check the post in my laptop and found it has been already published. But in my mobile phone, It i was seeing the comment in the text box and post comment botton.

If I haven't checked that in my laptop, I would have clicked the "Add a comment" again. It would generally bring duplicate posts if they are using forum in the mobile phone!

They same thing is applicable to New Discussion!

    Just confused with the version.

so was I based on your statement.

How many latest version of vanilla is there?

several depending on the branch, that is why "latest" implies nothing unless you sprecify version number.

so you are using 2.0.18.8 - that is a good version to stick with since it is not a beta, and is stable.

How do i know which version is vanilla using?

this vanillaforums.org is using a version 2.2.4 (you most likely don't want to use this version, if you are not a vanilla developer)

so now that the problem is elaborated and the version you are using is vanilla 2.0.18.8, maybe someone with an android can tell you if they have problems using vanilla 2.0.18.8 and an android. I don't have an android.

I may not provide the completed solution you might desire, but I do try to provide honest suggestions to help you solve your issue.

  • Does anyone have a live 2.0.18.8 install that is internet accessible?

I would be happy to test on my andriod 4.1 phone

  • I believe 2.0.18.8 is not completely stable. How can i downgrade or upgrade to some beta?

  • 2.0.18.8 is the latest stable release. You should not use lower versions for security reasons.

There is a beta available. My rule of thumb is: if you have to ask how to find it, you probably shouldn't be using it.

  • I am not going to use. I found twiiter and google login not working, So i could replace the files from beta. I believe those social login will work with any version

You could upgrade to the beta version, but it's only recommend if you are a developer or have similar skills.

We welcome all proper bug report, but discussions like 'where do I find the beta version' or 'where is the announcement of the beta version' or 'how do I upgrade', will put a frown on my face ...

There was an error rendering this rich post.

multiple different issues in one thread will get you nowhere fast.

on what basis do you believe the social login will work with any version?

Stable and "Bug-Free" are two entirely different things. downgrading introduces known regressions, going beta introduces new bugs AND code instability.

Stable code is code where interfaces and contracts are set and unchanging. It has absolutely 0 relationship to the quantity, quality or impact of bugs/issues in the tool.

  • I don't know about this. I have no option i have to use vanilla.
Otherwise i need to create my own for my requirements.

vanilla and phpbb are best. But phpbb has everything and everything except mobile theme!
    Huge drawback!

  • @hbf your forum looking good. how did you add those adsense? Is that default theme?

  • @mahesh said:
    Is that default theme?

It is a custom theme called HBFAIR, but it looks like it is based on the premium Air theme available at Vanilla Skins.

    that is correct.

i wrote a custom plugin that inserts the code in the desired places. i think there are some released plugins that try to do similar things. mine is not released.
