Is the image resizer murdering the reply box?

Thought I'd post this Q separately from my other one.
My users post a lot of very big images that all have to go through the resizer. When I visit those pages on my tablet (Galaxy Tab 2) the reply box basically dies. You can't type anything into it because it takes about 30 seconds to update. This doesn't happen when there aren't so many images. Is it the resizer?

You could debug the JS code to figure out what is causing the slowdown.

what happens when you disable the resizer. does the problem still occur.
