Some questions from a newb!

Hey, I am loving the forums so far, they are pretty robust, and awesomeeee.

But I have some questions

1) When I use the WP plugin to integrate Vanilla in to my site, the page does not expand () is the script I use (from the plugin).

So, I have to middle mouse wheel scroll down.

2) Second, any time I try to upgrade to 2.1b, I get a fatal error with any new plugin, so I am stuck using the non beta. Is there any way to upgrade from the current version to the beta version (I really want to use Yet another Gamification plugin!).

3) Is there a way to make catagories blockes on the Homepage of the forums? Instead of a list view? I really like the concept of it

and Finally

4) Here on the forums, there is a way to tag a post as helpful, lol, etc. Is that a plugin? Or app?

1. Could you post a screenshot explaining what you mean by this?
2. You should follow the official upgrade process found here: http://vanillaforums.org/docs/installation-upgrade
3. Do you mean something that looks like http://motigaunleashed.com/vanilla/categories/discussions?
4. The little icons are called reactions. This is a hosted only plugin, although there are different plugins available for the OS version (Peregrine Reactions, Yaga, Thankful People, etc.)

1. That issue pertains to the youtube links being auto-embedded. Since JS loads the flashplayer, the DOM doesn't know how tall the page is with the embedded youtubes.

As far as getting the categories to look like boxes, the following CSS will get you started:

.DataList.CategoryList .Item {
  width: 31%;
  float: left;
  margin: 1%;
}

Put it in your theme's custom.css file.

The other hting, about #1: that also does it on the Dashboard when I pull open the dashboard embedded in the word press page.

So I added that in, then I instantly got what you mean by getting started!

Haha, I am in no way a web designer. I thought it was perhaps an application or plugin. I'll leave it as it!

you can use the CategoriesBg plugin and add the code I put together so they look like blocks

Just copy the code on the plugin's add on page into the plugin's css file.
