Problems installing ninja addon

Hi,

I'm having an issue with installing the ninja theme addon. I've followed the installation instructions carefully and have installed NodeJS, npm, Bower and GULP successfully but when I reach the part about compiling the assets by running the default GULP script I get an error message "Task 'default' was not defined in your gulpfile but you tried to run it.". Looking at the gulpfile.js included in the package this seems to be the case. Am I missing something or are the setup instructions wrong?

I have the following setup:
OS: CentOS 6.4
Vanilla Forums: 2.2.9
NodeJS: v0.10.25
npm: 1.3.6
GULP: CLI version 3.5.5
Bower: 1.2.8
User: root

Any help appreciated.
