Anniversary Badges, Manipulation of Join Date and Combo Breaker Badge
Hello community
First off, this is once again is about the
Baldur's Gate EE Forum which runs the SaaS version of vanilla.
Still this issue may apply to other versions as well.
In that forum I have come across two people who seem to have manipulated somehow
their join date. Somehow the forum says they joined 2002/2003 respectively which is impossible
considering the forum exists since 2012 only.
My first question is:
Does any of you have an idea on how the forum may get tricked into thinking
someone joins at the time the forum didn't even exist?
Due to this manipulation and the strange behaviour of the anniversary badges (that are only
checked on sign in) those persons got all the anniversary badges at once, on the same day.
The second question is:
Why did getting all the anniversary badges at one day at once NOT trigger the combo breaker badge?
I am aware that you do not offer support for the SaaS version here.
I would just be glad for any ideas. Maybe someone of you encountered some similar issues on
other vanilla forums.
Thanks in advance
Shandyr

Ps:
I just found a user on this forum where the situation applies as well:
http://vanillaforums.org/profile/1/Mark
@Mark How did you join 1975? ^^
(he was last active last year I see...d'oh)
@Shandyr
Is your forum hosted by Vanilla?
If so, you need to ask over at http://vanillaforums.com/
This site deals with self-hosted, which doesn't have all the features of Vanilla hosted.
@whu606
It's not my forum, I'm just a member there
I'm not sure
But let's say we were talking about this very forum.
How did http://vanillaforums.org/profile/Mark
join this forum in 1975?
@Shandyr Mark is a founder of Vanilla he manually enter the date for effect. That is his birth year I would of thought.
grep is your friend.
Hmm interesting.
I notice that there are quite some users on this forum who were absent for years, then got back and then got several anniversary badges at once and the combo breaker badge DID trigger.
For example:
http://vanillaforums.org/profile/3093/maar
http://vanillaforums.org/profile/4638/ewm
http://vanillaforums.org/profile/2094/blite
Interesting to see. So it is supposed to trigger.
Hey I know I should not ask here questions for the commercial version of vanilla.
I am sorry
I'm just a normal user on the BG EE Forum, so I don't have access to
the http://vanillaforums.com/ support.
I'll leave it at that for now.
Still thanks for your help.
Maybe one day someone from the open vanilla problems will stumble upon a similar problem
and see this thread
Cya guys.
@Shandyr said:
probably not, because it is a proprietary plugin only used on the hosted version of vanilla
I may not provide the completed solution you might desire, but I do try to provide honest suggestions to help you solve your issue.
According to the documentation, the combo breaker badge is awarded when you earn multiple types of badges on the same day.

I don't think it is still in effect.

Interesting. That is how I understood and implemented my version for Yaga.

@peregrine
Yeah, seems you're right.
http://vanillaforums.org/badge/combo
the combo breaker badge was last awarded in April 2013
You cannot find it in the list of badges
http://vanillaforums.org/badges
So yeah it's disabled.
I still do think that there is some manipulation or bug going on in concern of the joining date.
Mark is a founder and set it himself probably.
But on our forum it's another matter.
As I don't want to discuss the commercial version here anymore I will look out for
open vanilla forums with the same or a similar issue
