How to give a table in default master tpl a background image?

Hi,

I putted on top of the page of the bootstrap theme a table, i want to put my header in it. But what i do, the background color of the table is always the same colour of the navbar..

  <div class="container">

    <div class="navbar-header">

everything but i cant get that table a background image.

Can anyone help me with this? thank you soo much!!
