  • Well unfortunately some asshole decided to give me a 1 star rating on the theme for "failing to provide support": http://themeforest.net/item/nexus-premium-vanilla-2-theme/reviews/8182116

    This is after I immediately answered all of his questions and helped him solve his issues with the theme, too. Then he asked a bunch of other questions, most related to Vanilla and other plugins and NOT the theme. I told him I would look into them, but was busy with work and directed him to the appropriate documentation and to contact the plugin authors. He says he understands, and then 3 days later goes on a rant about how I've failed to provide support.

    If anyone here has purchased the theme already, do me a favor and leave a positive review on the site (if your experience was positive, if not, PLEASE contact me and help me resolve any issues you may have!). Because almost no one leaves ratings, it'll be a while before I can correct this. :/

  • Was able to work it out with him, cancel red alert. ;)

    I use GoldPuma's Windows monthly web hosting plans to host my forum. Is my service compatible with this theme or it works only with Linux-based hosting plans?

    The theme will work with any webhost that Vanilla will work with, it's just PHP, JavaScript, and CSS.

    I was helping someone with your Nexus theme and noticed by defualt no menu bar.

    suggestion:

    You might want to make an allowance for a good looking minimal menu bar.

    Since {custom_links} is often used by plugins via addlink method.

    to name a few plugins that use addlink

    http://vanillaforums.org/addon/extrapage-plugin
    http://vanillaforums.org/addon/memberslistenh-plugin
    http://vanillaforums.org/addon/addmenuitem-plugin
    http://vanillaforums.org/discussion/comment/208097/#Comment_208097
    etc.....

    The addlink conundrum can be gotten around via pockets, a new panel, or adding directly to filtermenu, but it might be nice to have a minimal navmenu that is styled with your theme when it is uncommented in default.master.tpl

    and update firstlastnames plugin with 2.1 views (when time permits).

  • Hi @jspautsch‌ ! Just wondering if you're still around to help with nexus. I bought it a while back, love it, but have a few issues which I commented about on the TF page. You mentioned in one comment that maybe you're not getting email from TF properly? Or maybe you're just too busy with a new baby :). I have 3yo twin boys, I can relate.

    Sure thing. Send me a message here on vanillaforums.org and we'll work it out.

  • Hello Jspautsch,

    I am one of your customers. I bought your nexus vanilla forum theme and i love it.

    Problem is, it does not format well on mobile devices expecially with opera mini.

    Please can you fix this problem? or have a lite version that works with operamini browsers? most of my visitors are from nigeria and over here, we do not have so much data to spare, so we use opera mini.

    would be great it you can do this.

    One other thing, all vanilla forum editors that i have checked does not seem to work well with the theme on mobile.

    I can't even copy and paste into any of the editors. please can you fix this too?

    chris.

    Hello @jspautsch please look into this:

    IT'S REALLY DIFFICULT TO READ WITH YOUR THEME THAT I PURCHASED. PLEASE CHECK THE ATTACHED PICTURE AND HELP ME MAKE THE CSS CORRECTIONS. I TRIED ON MY OWN BUT FAILED.

    THANKS

    @alishachris

    You could easily make these changes yourself.

    If you use a web inspector, you can find which elements need to be changed.

    Then use this plugin:

    http://vanillaforums.org/addon/cssedit-plugin

    to add the new rules.

    The easiest way to change css is by downloading the plugin CSSEdit: http://vanillaforums.org/addon/cssedit-plugin

    Afterwards you can edit CSS in the dashboard: yourhomepage/settings/cssedit

    Simply add:

    body {
      background-color: yellow;
    }

  • I don't like the design but the price is too affordable, great job! :3

    Half an hour later - sometimes it gives awkward results when I post without refreshing the discussion first... :-/

    @alishachris have you tried the different color schemes? You can change color schemes via your Dashboard > Theme Options. Try Snow or Slate, they sound close to what you want.

    If you still want changes made to those schemes, let me know and I can walk you through it. The best way to customize Nexus is to modify one of the color schemes, e.g. Snow, by editing the associated CSS file (e.g. /nexus/design/custom_snow.css).
