Vanilla Open Source vs. Vanilla Cloud Feature List?
Primarily to prevent me from coming back here and asking the same question over and over for different features, is there an ongoing discussion somewhere here that shows which features the hosted Cloud version of Vanilla has vs. the self-hosted Open Source version?
I was bummed when I tried to @ mention someone in my new 2.1 installation, and nothing happened...

Features for OS are via themes and add-ons - you have to peruse them.
there have been a few discussions on some differences with respect to features.
I may not provide the completed solution you might desire, but I do try to provide honest suggestions to help you solve your issue.
@FerrariSteve The differences between open source & cloud features - whereby I assume you mean "extra widgets and functionality for forum users" - are all plugin-based. Cloud adds things like a custom theme UI in the Dashboard, VanillaPop (post over email), Advanced Search, Groups, and Warnings.
The strength of the cloud offering primarily lies in the rest of its features: instant deploy, automated updates & backups, effectively infinite & instant scalability, great support & advice, migration and integration assistance, and stability. The cloud saves a ton of money for medium- to enterprise-scale sites to invest their money in things like community managers instead.
If you're strictly doing a widget-to-widget comparison, look at these two lists for what's open source and authored by the Vanilla Team:
https://github.com/vanilla/vanilla/tree/master/plugins
https://github.com/vanilla/addons/tree/master/plugins
and compare that to what's on our cloud features list.
Some additional features on the cloud list you will find variations on in the Addons directory here made by contributors, but they are not the same as the cloud feature. How close they are varies greatly, of course.
Which is the reason why you might find me knocking at your office soon, if our project takes off as we hope.
