How can i hide a category?

Hi, I want to be able to offer blog comments and a forum but i don't want people viewing the forum from being able to browse the blog comments. Am i able to hide a category from appearing in the categories list globally, but still allow users to post to that category?

Maybe excluding that category from the recent discussion list is enough. You've got a checkbox for that in your dashboard: yourforum.com/vanilla/settings/editcategory/1 "[ ] Hide from the recent discussions page."
