Badges included in the self-hosted Vanilla?
I'm considering installing vanilla in my forum community, but currently I'm working out whether to go with Discourse or Vanilla as you both have strong gamified reward and achievement incentives.
I found an old post from 2012 with the same question to which the response was "no". So I'm wondering if anything has changed with 2.1?
Also what other features can I expect to be missing from the self-hosted one as opposed to the vanilla.com features that are advertised on the homepage?
Thank you

Welcome to the community!
I wrote an open source gamification addon called Yaga that implements (as far as I can tell) all the features available on the hosted platform. It is nearing 1.0 release.
The hosted plan offers other exclusive plugins as can be seen here: http://vanillaforums.com/info/plugins
Virtually all plugins are available in some form or another by the OS community. Some notable exceptions are: Vanilla POP, Warnings, and API. There is an OS API application, but it requires the alpha version of Vanilla (2.2+).
With the hosted version, the main selling feature (imo, ofc) is the hosting. Infinite scaling, always up-to-date, and a support line.
