Authenticators configuration not loading

i'm trying to configure the Google and OpenID authenticators and when I go to actually configure them in the dashboard it just sits there on the loaded gif doing nothing. This is on a new-ish installation of vanilla 2.1.1 and I have the twitter and facebook authenticators working just fine. I'm still very new to vanilla so I'm probably doing something wrong.

Google is discontinuing their OpenID authenticator. Google+ integration is in alpha on GitHub.

so the Google+ authenticator is coming but not here yet right? is the alpha a plugin or a new version of vanilla?
The plugin is here, just not released as stable.
