Change color scheme of a particular Bootstrap theme.

Hi. I have installed the Bootstrap theme and am using the Cerulian style. I basically want to change the color scheme to use purple everywhere instead of blue.
I have a working knowledge of CSS but dont know LESS. I basically have identified all the places I need to change the color using firebug and and adding these overrides to custom.css in the design folder. However I notice that unless I add !important they dont take effect. I also noticed that in the custom.css is getting loaded before custom_cerulean.css. Is this why it is not working?
Also is this the best way to go about what I am trying to do? There are a LOT of overrides so I wanted to get some advice before I start doing this.
Thanks!

Welcome to the community.
While there are people who may try to help you, Bootstrap is not officially supported on this forum:

Thanks! Appreciate the help. I did notice the part about using GitHub but I thought it was only for bugs and feature requests.
@ankgt
It probably is. Just wanted to let you know that Kasper doesn't really get on here to answer those sort of questions.
Editing Bootstrap is, afaIk, quite a different process to editing standard Vanilla themes, which is why you may not get the level of help normally offered.
