Vanilla as a blog

  • OK, maybe I should email Mark directly on this but I'll throw it up for grabs. What is the "correct" thing to do with regards to severe mods (like this , or ours...a Yelp style review system)? I see that Mr. K shortened his tagline, and that seems appropiate. I can't have our users going to lussumo docmentation and thinking it's a help file for our site. We are stripping people and vanilla down so much, but it's still built on lussumo, and we would not be as far as we are without the framework. Thoughts? P.S. If we have any commercial success, you will get a check, Mark...whether you like it or not.
  • As long as you leave some credit on your site which points towards lussumo and advertises the good work mark does i cant see as he'd have a problem with it. I'll leave that for him to confirm but if you're using his framework if nothing else it's still courteous to show the world who made it (and increase the user base in the process, ideally) I'll leave him to confirm that, though...
  • yeah I stripped it down, but still wanted to proudly state that we use Vanilla I'm also looking at a project for a client that could make use of Vanilla ... this client would expect to have all copyrights etc removed. However I'd expect to be paying Mark for that ability - so I hope he's thinking about commercial licenses
  • I've got it importing users already ... ... I'm posting my steps over here http://lussumo.com/community/discussion/2981/invision-power-board-to-vanilla/#Item_3
  • I just came back to look at this, now that I'm thinking of adding a blog to my site. Is there anyway to use your code to show only *particular* posts on the front page? For example, could I set up a category that only I (or selected users) could post to, with comments and othe discussions in the forum as usual?
  • thank you so much :)
  • Mr K - do you still intend to package the key changes as an extension?
  • what is the private forums tab? Is it a seperate forum than vanilal? or is it an independent category tab than the regular categories and discussion tabs? If so I want to know how to do that so I can create a seperate "forum" that I can use as a comment place for all my anime reviews.
  • I've tried to use the code you provided to make vanilla into a 'blog' but im getting this error:

Notice: Undefined property: Discussion::$CommentBody in C:/pathtofile/discussion.php on line 20

    Any ideas?
  • I love the look of this. How do I go about doing this?
