Just tested it out myself. This seems to be a little more complicated because the counts recalculation is triggered by an ajax call when the profile is visited.

The error should show up in your network tab as a response to the request.
I tinkered around some more with it and it works now, see attachment.
I also added a rudimentary settings screen so you can add discussion IDs you want to exclude through the dashboard.
I guess this could be uploaded to the addons repo, could be useful to more people.
@Bleistivt@hgtonight Y'all are awesome! I've uploaded this and have done some testing, it works! However, there is a minor glitch that is worth noting...although probably not worth fixing.
If you activate this plugin and do not add any DiscussionID's to the settings, the next time you post on your forums your post count will screw up. Mine went from 23 to 8 posts when I posted for the first time once the plugin was activated. I tried this in multiple different discussions and each time it went from 23 to 8. However, once I added a DiscussionID to the settings and posted, it fixed itself.
Again, not something I think needs to be fixed, just noted if this gets released as a plugin.
