Is there a way to view how many and who is subscribed to a category and/or discussion?

The discussion object stores the count of bookmarks on it.

And where do I view the discussion object?
Sorry, I find the terminology somewhat confusing between notifications and subscriptions. I meant how many people are being notified of new posts to a category.
Categories do not track the number of advanced notification preferences for that category.
You can view the discussion object by looking at the DB record. A JSON version of this discussion here would be: http://vanillaforums.org/discussion.json/29213/viewing-subscription-metrics
