Issues when selecting comments/discussions for moderation

I tried searching for this first, but couldn't find anything I decided to start a discussion. There are some behavioral problems when selecting comments/discussions for moderation. I've only noticed two issues, but they are pretty annoying. The first is that when selecting a post for moderation (clicking the checkbox), the moderation box doesn't appear. It's not until I uncheck the box that it appears and gives me the option to delete, merge, etc. Additionally, when selecting multiple posts to modify at once the count is always one less than what is actually selected. I think both of these issues are related to the same thing because of the mod box not showing up until the second time a box has been checked or unchecked. Here are some pictures:
