insertion of mobile number to registration field

i a building a forum and i want it to get users telephone number during registration. How do i go about it?

Use the Profile Extender, add a field called mobile number, and make sure all the boxes are checked.

i created that field and it eve takes words/alphabets. That is what i want to ignore

It doesn't really make sense to validate a phone number. You would have to actually call it to see if it exists.

Depending on your country, people are going to use plus signs, brackets or other non-numeric chatacters in phone numbers.

Or you could formulate a scam to make people pay for something they did not order via their phone number ...

Vanilla is a great help-desk/forum software. when it is implemented will let you have a look at it
