Automatically assign a role to a certain email?

We're going to start beta testing one of our games very soon, and we'd like a closed off place for our betatesters to report bugs and discuss the beta. All I have are these peoples emails. Do you have any ideas on how I could achieve this in Vanilla? I've tried searching, but didn't find any good solutions.
Ideally, I'd like to be able to enter a bunch of emails (perhaps in a CSV document) and Vanilla would automatically assign a Role to the people who sign up or have already signed up using those emails. Then I could create a Category with limited Read/Write access.

Would require a custom plugin.
But you could also do something similar with invites:

My themes: pure | minusbaseline - My plugins: CSSedit | HTMLedit | InfiniteScroll | BirthdayModule | [all] - PM me about customizations

Okay, many thanks!
This works perfectly for inviting new users, but it doesn't work for those already registered. Does anyone know of a plugin where I can enter a bunch of emails and automatically assign a role to those?
I figure I can do that manually whenever we send out a new batch of invites
You can check out Bulk Edit, which will let you add the same role to multiple users from the User administration screen in the dashboard.
