  • godaddy says server not doing it I just wish I did not have to listen to 20 minutes of squirrel nut zippers. Server running Linux, 2.0. Suggested my uploading software is responsible. I'm using dreamweaver mx. So I'll look into that.
  • Misha, you using Dreamweaver MX doesn't matter. I get the same error as you.. And your 'filename theory' seems pretty plausible to me, because when I searched the error on google, all solutions I got were about the filename length.. Still, I have all the requirements, though it doesnt work..
  • dreamweaver prefs= "never Rewrite Code in files with extensions...php..." (check) that's not the same as uploading. Look around some more.
  • Akex1- OK. There's bound to be a simple solution. I'll keep tracking my progress until sorted out. Hitting the road now will start again in AM.
  • Umm.... Anyone can solve my problem? Is it danger to remove .htaccess?
  • I would rename it instead of moving it so you could change it back in case of problems.

You could try using a free uploading tool, too. There are plenty of free ftp programs out there...

OK. Used Fetch and uploaded files without disfiguration. On my way. Just setting up MySQL and should take just bit longer for permissions etc to propagate and ...step three! weird about dreamweaver.
  • I just got the same error this morning. I talked to my server people, and I was told my server was just updated to the latest stable PHP release, version 4.4.4 Does that help?
  • jtelling; In most cases it would, but I checked, and the minimal needs for the latest Vanilla are PHP v4.2, so if you hadn't had that before - your problem is most likely solved. (And the latest stable PHP release is 5.0.1 btw ;P ) Anyway, I have the needed PHP version, and I still get that error..
  • Ok , I'm happy to say that uploading using Fetch did the trick. Looks like I'm up and cool running. I did not remove the htaccess file. Looking forward to using Vanilla for the greater good.
