Login Integration with Other Web App

Hi everyone, I am currently looking to install Vanilla forums in conjunction with HumHub an open source social platform. Currently all the users info is held on the DB for HumHub. I would rather just integrate Vanilla into Humhub than have to integrate both into a third new system such as wordpress or an LDAP server.
So the question is does anyone know how to integrate Vanilla into an existing user DB?
