Embedding Youtube Video
goozleology
New
So, I embedded a Youtube video into a discussion and it worked. However, when I try to edit the discussion, the embed code gets stripped automatically. Then, if I try to add another Youtube video by pasting embed code, it too gets deleted right away.
How to I get embed codes to stick during the editing process?

I remember a similar issue: https://github.com/vanilla/vanilla/issues/2833

I am using the wysiwyg plugin. So maybe that's the problem but I didn't really understand the solution if there even was one.
you can't embed anything using the embed code anymore for security concerns. You can post the link to the video which should render the video.

Alright, I'll give that a try.
@vrijvlinder - I am having the same problem. I posted youtube video link but on edit the link got stripped as @goozleology mentioned.
I am using Vanilla forum 2.2.1- Advanced Editor set to wysiwyg.
Please how do I solve this problem?
I use the Mediator plugin:
https://vanillaforums.org/addon/mediator-plugin
which takes the You Tube link and adds a playable video in the post.
@whu606 - I just downloaded and enabled Mediator plugin but the problem continues. So I guess Mediator plugin is not the solution unless there is something I am not doing right.
With this plugin all you do is paste the link from the google page of the video.
the link in the address bar is the one you paste, it should look like this
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E4UJg5__-bs
then it looks like this after you post
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E4UJg5__-bs

@vrijvlinder - I did exactly as you explained but video gets stripped whenever I click on discussion edit button.
To avoid that from happening, I suggest you copy the link before you edit and paste it back before you save the post. This might be a bug …

Yes that is what I have been doing to recover the YouTube video link after editing but it is frustrating to do that all the time. Besides forum members won't understand whats going on with their YouTube video links.
Has this issue ever been solved? Can any portion of code be edited to prevent the Youtube video from disappearing upon edit?
How to fix it⁉️
Thank you very much.
