I'm guessing that there is some major developments going on as I can't even log in anymore... :( I almost cried... Fatal error: Call to a member function on a non-object in /home/.derek/teknopia/northparkcreative.com/vanilla_dev/extensions/jcCalendar/default.php on line 297
  • how is this coming along? i can't wait, exactly what i need!

Looks promising, but is it still being developed?
  • I haven't seen the dancing bear post for months... :(

I've always thought EventCalendar for WordPress would be a good candidate for adaptation.
  • Has anyone tried this http://www.popastro.com/timeline/
  • pbear, I'm with you on that. The event calendar for WP is very nice.

for what its worth I've managed to integrate extcalendar with vanilla. i cant really describe how it was done as my tech guy did it for me) but once we finish, I'll have him write up a tutorial. all thats left to do is add upcoming events to the sidepanel.
  • Could we take a look at it?

I'm running a simple calendar script but it's protected due to the confidential info on it.

  • theres not much to see. basically we just integrated the user databases between extcalendar and vanilla, and then used the page management extension to add a link at the top to it. clicking that link takes you to the calendar which looks just like the default ext calendar set up. here is a screenshot.

    sffixed calendar

    and here is the forum

i really want to add the sidepanel thing cuz a lot of users tend to forget the calendar is even there without some sort of constant reminder.

    hint, hint, nudge, nudge. ;)

    I hardcoded mine via PageManagement:
    AIGA Club Calendar

I'm not so concerned that everyone can add/delete things, but that there's an easy way for administrators to do it.
  • OT: Preview Post barfs this:

Fatal error: Call to a member function on a non-object in /applications/lussumo/community/extensions/CategoryJumper/default.php on line 58
  • if u don't need every single member to be able to add to the calender then Google Calender will work for you.
I do not understand why no one is using it. It allows u to put Google calender in ur OWN webpage, just like pbear has done with his AIGA Club Calender in a tab. Google Calender will do just that. It also has access control and invite people to edit the calender. u can invite the admins and moderators and event manager so they have full access to the calender.

Google calender allows comments to be posted regarding each event. If u have questions about a party, u can ask it DIRECTLY in the calender.
If u enter the address of the event, it will map it for you.
it allows u to check the event via mobile phone
It has a whole set of API so u can customize it exactly the way u want it to.
it allows people to subscribe to the calender, or sync with other calender apps like Apple iCal, So u don't have to use the web interface. u can add event offline and it will sync once it gets online.
    Automatic Calender reminders etc

There are toooooons of neat things u can do with Google Calender. and u guys should give it a try. dunno no one is even interested in it.

If u want just the sidebar, then u can use google webpage widgets
  • I somehow equated having a Google Calendar with having also Google ads. I'm not interested in ads. If that's not the case I might look into it.
