The way you ask questions makes it hard to follow which problems really exist. You should try to group similar issues and create one question per issue.
You are using the bittersweet theme. It loads a font per http and that's the problem. You shouldn't change existing files, so I would advice to copy the bittersweet theme and change your copy. Use the forums search to find hints on how to duplicate a theme.
In your own copy of the custom.css, edit line 5 which starts like that
src: local('Bitter-Regular'), url('http://themes...Try to visit such a link when you are not logged in: every one will see a discussion starting from the post that he hasn't read already. Just image you have a discussion with 4 pages of comments. the "latest" will help your users to open the discussion on page 4 if they have already read page 1-3. Users who had stopped reading on page 2 will be redirected to page 2. So that feature is directly bound to what the current user has already read. Do you really want to change it?
