I was referring to the ten thousand entries example and I recounted in an example that breaking the load into ten chunks for a specific forum may not be bad if run through cron. It will always be a local judgement because any large effort should always be considered against available resources. I think such a plugin will help rather than hinder. I think that in general you can't protect against bad coding, whether it's a large batch effort or otherwise.
