The best thing you've ever found on the internet.

Well, what is it?

I've been trying to think of the best thing I've ever found on the internet. So far I haven't come up with any single thing that stands out above the rest.

Oh, and if you found your spouse on the internet and you don't say it was him/her... ouch.

@jazzman: Please no. I wasn't fishing for compliments. Just seriously wondering what other super cool stuff is out there. So far porn is a pretty good one. That's topping my list at the moment :)

Well I wouldn't be able to pick out a single item, but some candidates would be:
    • Borland C++ Complier, gcc and the MS SDK + Documentation (seperate items but used for the same thing)
    • Opera
    • A site which lists all the south park episodes (and movie) for watching/downloading
    • Any medium-sized forum in which I can participate/lurk (I know that sounds lame but I'm sort of addicted to browsing forums)
    • Digg and Slashdot
And I'm sure I can think of more...
  • Ok.. now for a serious comment: The biggest internet revolution = P2P.... There isn't a single person out there that hasn't done some P2P. Music, movies, software.. the works.. If it's digital, it has been shared.
  • YTMND? http://tubes404.ytmnd.com/
  • I think P2P would be a clear winner for me, but I'm not sure if that's really the kind of answer Mark was after, becuase it's incredibly brief and it's possible everyone will give it as an answer!

So for now I'll just say... Cheggit! ;)

    I kid, I kid!

I'm tempted to say internet forums, but that's almost as brief :/

Well, the best thing I've ever found on the internet is the Best Page In The Universe, of course.
  • Mark, can you precise/reformulate?
Do you mean best application/interface or best content?

This is the best thing on the internet, followed closely by this

I win. You can all go home now.

I'm kind of partial to this

I don't know. Anything you've ever found on the net that you thought was just awesome. Something you bought. Someone you met. Something you saw. Something you downloaded. Anything.
  • If you're going to get into media, I've always liked the animated shorts Exit (damn, it took me more than 10 minutes of googling to find a link to that) and Cafard
  • Get lost, those flash animations don't even come close to leakspin! (Bleach <3)
  • i found this site called myspace by chance.... that is when life truly started....

    [only kidding]

I don't know. That is a really tough question.

This picture was a lot of fun:

  • This makes me pretty happy in my pants.

Free porn and music makes me very happy in my pants. I love music a lot but I'm not rich so I can't buy everything I want. At least with downloading I don't get shafted by getting a shit album. I've still managed to amass about 300 CDs and 700+records over the past few years despite downloading a lot. Suck my love pump RIAA.
As for porn. It's awesome. I just wish my girlfriend thought that too. Although, I have started deleting stuff as 215gb was excessive.

I would make the following list(s) =durable= slashdot email =catching= blogs and forums =shiny= free pics, music, videos =best use= to create (write, take photos, shoot videos, make music) There's no web2 apps\sites that could make the list, that tells something. Well, but anything that is (even partly) eatable beats internet by far? dont you think?

flickr, and the community i've made with my vanilla forum... 313 members and growing... My forum has spawned copy cat forums in NY, Chicago, Milwakee, Portland, and now DC. We're gonna start a little network. It's been the most fun I've gotten out of the net since dreamless died. heh.
  • what's the url? what kind of copycats?
