  • sffixed.com (not publicly viewable, sorry) its a locally based forum for people who ride fixed gear bikes. Plan rides, trade parts, promote races, encourage more people to ride, get drunk, etc... there is now a fixed.gr/nyc and chifg.com. cant remember what the urls for mke and pdx are at the moment.
  • Being only 16 I'm curious how you old people got by without the access to porn online?

I remember downloading porn from bbs's in 1992. Waiting half an hour for one grainy picture took patience. Let me tell you.

Before that it was pure imagination and very rarely the real thing.
  • Sodaplay was, and still is great
  • (thinking back, before 1992) rarely indeed but sweet nonetheless (blush again)

When I ran a BBS I spent my time deleting porn from private postings and threatening users with banishment!
  • I met my wife on ICQ back in 1998. A buddy and I were bored and hit the random chat button. She lived in Oregon (and I in California) at the time. The rest is history.

Wife, Friends, Red vs Blue, Pr0n.

@Wanderer: Threatening people for posting porn?! You sir, should be banished.
  • Banished? These were 8 and ten year olds and I had their parents to fear!
  • My vote is also for Limewire and all of its variations. Before the legal ramblings, you could download about anything, which was really cool when I was in college. Copyright didn't mean much to me back then...

Google. Seriously, searching is sweet. Project Gutenberg is pretty neat as well. And then there are a bunch of good webcomics.

    Edit:
@SirNot: The official Cafard website. Now I just need to find if those crazy french people also have a website for Exit...
  • I thought I remembered there being a website for that

great idea for a thread! With living alone in a remote part of the world, I just found that the net came along at just the right time for me. To be able to chat and interact with people across the planet was awesome. I have never grown tired of this aspect. I have made many friends on the web....but my best is a friend from Reno, Nevada. We met online in the late 90s in a newsgroup, and have been very close ever since. She has been over here twice. I suppose Napster was THE big thing. We all loved Napter and that whole new frontier.......an age of innocence, and one that could never last. Tho binary newsgroups and bittorrent are pretty popular these days. I guess newsgroups/discussion boards are my favourite part of the web. I have been posting on newsgroups for 10 or more years. Keywords, development wise for me, across the past 15 years would include: windows; napster; mp3; usenet; and google. Without the aforementioned, my web experience would have been much poorer. 'Open Source' is edging closer to making my list of keywords. ;)

    A possible career.

In other news; not the best, but it's definately interesting. A WOW player accidentally drops his iPod into the toilet of a plane, officials wildly overreact.
  • woooowwww! scary story - but sums up the fuked up world that we live in. just fortunate that they didn't blindfold him, and put him in an orange jumpsuit, and whisk him off to be tortured in Guantanemo bay.

For porn, I find sat TV channel much more confortable.

My choice is: open software and largerly the free collaborative works and the tiny hope it brings in human kind.

The best is yet to come, if ever: direct democracy.
  • so what is your email, max? whisper me

I hate to kill Max's dreams but direct democracy already works in Switzerland. WOut internet.
