  • /me dry humps c# / ms sql
  • I quite like ms sql, but man, C# is a pain in the ass (same for Java).
  • whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat c# is a what?
  • i mean fuck java yeah but c# is a pain in the ass?
  • Well, I find it strange that you hate Java but like C#. They seem almost identical to me. Visual Studio is a better IDE than most (IntelliJ IDEA is rad, though), so that's nice.

I'm more productive in Emacs with Python, Ruby, JavaScript, or something like that. I'd rather just hit the error when I refresh/run the program than hit it when I compile.

I took a look at python a year or so ago when I first started making Vanilla. I have to admit, the thought of programming in a language where tabs are used so intensively terrifies me. Every IDE I've ever used has done fucked up things to my tabs, and to think that an entire application could break because of an IDE glitch makes me shiver. In the end that wasn't the thing that drove me away from Python, but it still freaks me out to this day. *insert flames here*
  • @mark yet another reason to stay away from IDEs. ;)) *flame inserted* ;)
  • (didnt need to start a new thread I found this one, LIVE!! old thread LIVE!!) Has anyone that is against RoR actually used it? I mean, like built an app with it? then you would see, that its not just an "overhyped toy".
  • lol@python. They could have seriously used a better way to manage whitespace like that, along with tabs. There's no logical reason to treat tabs or whitespace as part of the code, because if you may, imagine the following scenario (not that it will apply 100% but anyawy) : you have the worlds biggest super-function... imagine how many god damn tabs you'll need when you're on line 900...
  • I don't want to imagine that. I had enough trouble writing a video rental store thing in Pascal :P
