Can a user request a role change? Vanilla 3.2

Hi!

I created a categorie/a part of the forum availible just to certain custom user roles. Is there way that "regular" users like members could request the promotion to a different role and access the restricted discussions by providing some more info?

So instead this screen they would be prompted with something like: "Request access by telling us which model do you own". Or something similar.
