Warning about the spam queue in the next version (4.0)
The team decided to reverse a 2013 decision to remove the spam counter from the dashboard alert count, so if you've been ignoring your spam queue (as you were intended to) you're suddenly going to have a very large red number when you upgrade to the next version. Ran into this upgrading to master this past month and it's crazy annoying since there's no mass-delete tool for the spam queue, nor is there a way to plug into that counter (and remove the spam again) that I'm aware of. Even if there was a mass-delete, now you'll be notified every time a spammer tries to join your site.
Personally, I'm just gonna maintain a fork that reverses that commit for now.
Just thought I'd drop a note since it's probably gonna be real annoying and I assume it won't be called out prominently in the release notes since they considered it a "bug fix" to change that functionality.
