  • ok, I edited that code, and all seems hunky dory..................my vanilla forum loads as expected. Now, I am stuck as to what to do next. The tutorial's final line says: "That’s it! Now you can use WordPress functions, such as get_header(), in the Vanilla theme." Yikes (said in my scooby doo voice) what precisely do I do to 'use wordpress functions to get_header in the vanilla theme'?
  • argh, starting to see errors when i make a post, i get hit with "OK The document has moved here. Apache/1.3.37 Server at multitrackers.com Port 80" at http://multitrackers.com/community/post.php I also saw database syntax error on one occasion there......and site now seems to take a second or two to 'think' before it operates me no likely where this might be heading
  • Sorry again guys, i had to pick-up my son and then go to the church (been a crazy day). Anyway, Now, what the WP functions do is call the WP header and sidebar. So, if you put get_header() into your vanilla install, you see the WP header in you vanilla install. And likewise for the get_sidebar();, you will see the WP sidebar. I am still willing to send you those 2 files but it seems like you have worked it out now. Just let me know
  • no, I had very little luck today at all :( I am trying to retrace my steps, without much luck (I changed both files back to their original) If you click on any thread at http://multitrackers.com/community/ you will see loads of errors :( I hope that i don't have to delete wordpress and vanilla ....and reinstall, and do the changes again to integrate the two databases again (re mark's instructions) at this point I intend to foget about integrating the look of both vanilla and wordpress......and instead I will just make a top banner type thingie. Better something than nothing. Thanks for trying to help me. Appreciated. I guess that I don't have the expertise as yet to do it.

Finally sent the 2 files to you. Copy them to the folders and the errors should go away. If you changed the sqlbuilder.php file, change it back or extract a new copy back over that file

thanks for the files, carnold nope, still messed up page Off to bed. I'll try and get back tomorrow, will maybe have to delete the whole thing.......and reinstall wordpress, vanilla, and do Mark's integration thing again. PS - I emailed you back there now
  • Hi Carnold, i did some more messing here before hititng bed Got vanilla working Tho I have an error when I try to post Try posting a comment to see what I mean at www.multitrackers.com/community/ Best, strawberries
  • With a clear head this morning, I have retraced my steps and everything is working fine again. Vanilla is such a fine looking forum, that I decided not to go ahead with integrating the look/template of my vanilla section to coincide with the wordpress section of my site. Instead, i have decided to use the aweome looking vaneablack style for vanilla, in tandem with my logo from th etop of my wordpress section. OK, anyone with css expertise please guide me here. My logo is at present half hidden at the top - there is another inch of it or so that I want to appear (presently hidden behind the buttons where vanilla starts). See: http://multitrackers.com/community/ What line would I need to change in the following css sheet to push vanilla down a bit from the top and thus show more of my logo?
  • argh, it won't let me post the css sheet......too long it says.

Got it sussed! I also ended up dabbling more in photoshop to make my logo banner longer. I think it looks pretty decent now. http://multitrackers.com/community/ It needs a little tweaking still - but it's getting there. Thanks Mark and everyone in this thread. I really appreciate all the ideas and guidance. I now have, through your hlp, integrated my wordpress and vanilla into one database, and thus one registration and sign-in. And now thanks to the vaneablack style, I have the two areas of the site looking pretty closely matched. Many many thanks to everyone for all the help.
