  • no line number for the other error, but just got a different one - i guess the server was down: Warning: fsockopen() [function.fsockopen]: unable to connect to big.oscar.aol.com:80 in /home/circuit/public_html/candr/messageboard/extensions/ChatStatus/StatusUtils.php on line 22

I uploaded Chat Status 1.0 Beta 5. This is a cleanup/bugfix release, pretty much. It improves Yahoo and MSN support (both should be more reliable now), and improves error handling; this should fix both problems Circuit was having.

As I said, this is mainly a maintenance release; more features will be included in a future version. (I'm still trying to find a good way to find Jabber status. It's trickier, being a decentralized network.)
  • Not trying to fork this discussion, but Pol, could this be adapted to work as an Who's Online extension, so that an icon next to a poster's name in a discussion and on the account page would indicate if the person is logged in at the time? Just a thought, as it would alleviate the main problem with the current WO extension, which is that lots of logged in members leads to a very long list of names indeed.

seems to happen when status is 'unknown'. is there a fix?
edit: sorry, just seen the upgrade above. forget it :)
  • nope, actually, another problem: this new version seems to be causing the 'account' pages to hang. if i disable the extension, they load OK. i'll keep testing it.
  • Yeah, it's hanging for me too, plus it doesn't seem to show the actual status, only "unknown" for all.
