Error installing Vanilla 2

I am getting an error when installing Vanilla 2 on index.php, Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_OBJECT_OPERATOR in .../index.php on line 30

What version of PHP are you running? Vanilla 2 needs 5.1 or newer: http://vanillaforums.org/page/Requirements
