Upgrade instruction page needs more info
The overview of the upgrade process at http://vanillaforums.org/docs/installation-upgrade
needs some more information for completeness
e.g.,
-- add a field to the User table: AllIPAddresses should be VARCHAR(100).
-- check that the FCGI timeout settings in your web server allow unlimited time. Note the former settings.
-- invoke http://<forum-url>/utility/structure
-- invoke http://<forum-url>/utility/update
-- restore FCGI settings to their previous setting, if modified

Can you please explain the first point? I am using 2.1 but did not made any changes to AllIPAddress.
