i am a SAD SAD man. (vanillicon question)

On my new forum, I have installed the vanillicon plugin. I use a different username with a kinda localized email address. The vanillicon for it is lame lame lame lame LAME LAME LAME

I mean it's now permanently attached to that persona and I AM SAD BECAUSE OF IT.

Is there any way to change this? (besides changing the email or username)

    Vanillicon's are unique to an email address, right?

    You can always find a different avatar and just upload that as your avatar (through http://forums.example.com/profile/picture).

    Your current avatar, for example is found here: http://w5.vanillicon.com/5a6d49572f2c6760e19f02a0da4f5da6_200.png

  • I guess I'll have to brute it and do it manually. Jeez anything but that drugged out ghost look would have just been fine.

    you could easily modify ALL vanillicons. It's not really an off-topic question. it is a question relating to the vanillicon plugin and could have been posted there and tied to the plugin, so it would be easier to find. Off-topic category questions cannot be read by guests either, so it doesn't provide much help to anyone except somebody logged in.

    in plugins/vanillicon
    look for $Hash = md5($Email);

    replace in two places around lines 24 and 37

    replace
    $Hash = md5($Email);

    with

    $Hash = md5($Email . "lambchop");

    or you could use

    $Hash = md5($Email . "porkchop");

    or you could use
    $Hash = md5($Email . "not-lame");

    or you could use
    $Hash = md5($Email . "plz. sir.");

    or you could use
    $Hash = md5($Email . "please post your plugin question under the plugin in question");

    also see this great discussions

    they tell you valuable hints.

    e.g. post your question under the plugin when you ask a question about a plugin.
    e.g. post your version of vanilla you are using when asking a question.
    e.g. valuable tips on searching forum, tutorials, documentation, wiki, etc.

  • to make a Supriscon plugin where the vanillicon randomly changes for everyone just change

    replace $Hash = md5($Email);

    with
    $Hash = md5($Email . rand());

    good for april fool's day.

    This one makes a good avatar ....

  • I just made a copy of one that came up on the site.

    I switched out "Email" for "Username" and that gave me a new one. I even did similar to what was said about adding random and added my own random character. I picked a char, did concat when adding it to hash.

    But the simplest thing was just copying it.

    As far as "anything" goes, yes anything. The eyes in that pic appear once on the vanillicon site background, and the mouth doesn't appear at all. . . so yes. . . ANYTHING.
