Vanillicon url broken on vf.org ?

Just noticed that all Vanillicon generated images are broken. Upon inspection of the source I see the url is wrong

<img src="//wa.vanillicon.com/ac16f791144ea87f67de1f4bab0d335f_50.png" alt="luigi" class="ProfilePhoto ProfilePhotoMedium">

If I replace the wa with www the img works , so something is changing the prefix in a bad way. Any idea @Linc ?

This happens on Safari and also Chrome and Firefox on a Mac.

I should mention that trying to access the file using that url leads to a DNS error not a 404

    Confirmed! It's not browser or Vanilla related, but has to do with something that changed at Vanillicon.

    The pics are served from a whole line of vanillicon.com subdomains, and most are not working any more, the pics show up omitting the subdomain.

    As seen here as well (strangely it's now working again here, but not in our forum, those subdomains are still unreachable, so someone must have patched the Vanillicon plugin here on vf.org?), in our forum pretty much all vanillicon generated avatars are gone and instead the username is shown, resulting in the username displayed twice with offset.

    I have now disable the Vanillicon module in our forum, before I get flooded with PMs about that issue.

    It was a DNS issue (we moved the vanillicon nameservers, as well as the cluster serving the icons), but it has now been resolved. Could take an hour or so to fully propagate, but its all loading correctly for me already.

    How can you be sure the two events are mutually exclusive :wink:

    so is that realated to the issue that every new member who has joined in the past 24 hours or so has an vanillicon that still doesn't work?

    Flush your local dns cache and see.

    OS X: sudo dscacheutil -flushcache
    Windows: ipconfig /flushdns
    Linux: sudo /etc/init.d/nscd restart
