Akismet and StopForumSpam plugins that work in 2.1?

Are there any? I just tried VanillaAntiSpam but it hasn't been updated since 2010 and while it enables it renders a blank page when you try to update its settings.
Any suggestions? I'm going to see if the community objects to captcha for sign up but pretty sure they will.

I run both Akismet and StopForumSpam on 2.1.6 and they are working wonderfully for me.

@volksman: +1. Both are also working perfectly for me on 2.1.6. I am running unmodified Vanilla code and unmodified code for both plugins.

Sorry, quick followup: I've installed StopTheSpam, but there doesn't seem to be anywhere to add the API key. Is that even necessary?

Yes, no API key needed.
It's only needed if you also intend to report spammers back to StopForumSpam
