Why doesn't Google follow its own guidelines?

    Do as I say not as I do.

    Really, it just comes down to the fact that Google is a huge company with a lot of moving parts.

    If the goal of skipping attributes or cache headers was reducing of transfer size, you'd think they would also compress the actual images, but they don't.
