Where is the install documentation for jsconnect?

No readme file in the download zip, don't see an actual instruction piece in the docs (did I miss it??)

  • Seems this may have stumped the forum? When I say "install" I am looking for something that tells me where to upload the folders and files to. There doesn't seem to be anything that says - upload the jsconnect folder to folder X - I have a plugin designed to make it work but I don't know where to upload the files??

  • Figured it out.

    @Likeabook

    It is better to give the answer if you solve an issue yourself, so the solution is available for others.

  • It's better to get a response to questions - You were the only person to at least respond to one question I had, so thanks. This has been a very frustrating experience and I don't think I've ever had a piece of software so difficult to work with in the last 29 years. Missing info in documentation or just won't work as described etc. I just deleted the database and vanilla form.

  • I'm sorry you feel that way :(

    I think your other questions went unanswered because they dealt with rather specific questions about importing and therefore by definition also involve other software than Vanilla.

    To help you with those, we'd have to set up a test forum with different software, export that, import it in our test forum with Vanilla software and try to debug the error. That takes ages for volunteers.

    While with questions involving a specific Vanilla plugin, I can download it and find out what causes the error within 5 minutes.

    I know it doesn't help you in a practical way to know why you didn't receive a lot of help, but maybe you feel slightly better if you know the reason?

    @Linc, could you update some links on https://open.vanillaforums.com/addon/772/vanilla-jsconnect ?

    Two links are deprecated due to the moving of the forums.

    Old links link to http://vanillaforums.org/docs/jsconnect (when you try to follow them they simply redirect to docs.vanilla.com) and they should now refer to http://docs.vanillaforums.com/help/sso/jsconnect/

  • I can not figure out how to install this plugin. There is no readme file or install instructions. Please advise!

  • You put the jsconnect directory in the zip (the one full of files and such) into your Vanilla install's plugins directory, then enable the plugin. (This should be fairly universal across all plugins.)

    The other half of jsConnect is having a site with authentication you can plug it into. You'll have to check the jsConnect documentation about that.
