    Please try the following url instead of @vikefans:

    https://twitrss.me/twitter_user_to_rss/?user=vikefans

    Let me know if it works out for you.

    Ok so I see that a feed is ready for import. How do I get it to actually import? Does the user that is set up to be the author have to do something to get it to import?

    As is explained in the Readme (click the "?Readme" button on the admin config screen), import can be initiated by one of:
    1. Any user browsing a specific discussion (this would require global settings to allow user initiated imports - I believe you have selected that). or -
    2. By the admin pressing the "Check active feeds Now" or -
    3. By a cron job (see Readme for setup details).

    Even then, a feed will be imported only if it is scheduled to be imported - being in "ready" state like the above feed.

    A quick a dirty way to test #1 above is to open another tab, go into the discussion list, and select a discussion to browse. Then go back to the tab with the configuration screen where you see the screen you show above, click "Refresh" and see how the "Ready" indiactor is changed. Of course you can go to the "The Longship" category to see the imported feeds. I tried it on my test site.

    In fact, I went one step further. In our intranet we use this plugin together with the DiscussionsGrid plugin, so I tried that with your twitter feed defnition above and got a really cool "news-like" presentation of your Twitter entries.

    Hope this helps.

    Hmm yeah the import is still not happening for some reason. I wonder if it might have something to do with our forum being wordpress embedded?

  • Options

    Because our forum is embedded it's URL looks like this: https://vikefans.com/discussion/#/discussions

    Where as the vanilla forums is installed in vfforums directory under out public_html dir. For example the forums settings url looks like this:

    http://vikefans.com/vfforums/plugin/feeddiscussionsplus/listfeeds?159

    Also feed validator returns:

    `Sorry
    This feed does not validate.

    line 12, column 4: Missing image element: title [help]

    </image>
    ^

    line 12, column 4: Missing image element: link [help]

    </image>
    ^

    In addition, interoperability with the widest range of feed readers could be improved by implementing the following recommendations.

    line 2, column 0: Use of unknown namespace: http://api.twitter.com [help]

    <rss xmlns:atom="http://www.w3.org/2005/Atom" xmlns:georss="http://www.geors ...
    line 4, column 115: Self reference doesn't match document location [help]

    ... rel="self" type="application/rss+xml" />

    Many feeds do not validate and still work. You can try the above url (http://twitrss.me/twitter_user_to_rss/?user=vikefans) on the browser you will see that it is a valid feed...

    I will also research further...

    Hi
    this plugin only provides users with a short excerpt of the original post, so is it possible to get the full article?

    @same1116 Depends on what's inside the RSS feed you are using. If the RSS contain the full article, it will import it. If it's only a part of the article, you will have only this part.
    So if your source does not provide rss feed with full articles you cannot do it.

    If the publisher of the feed decided to create a feed that only contains a n excerpt of the original articles then the plugin can't create something from nothing...
