I've discovered what was preventing the View Counter from working in my Firefox. As suspected, it was a Firefox extension, which I found by disabling them one by one. It's the uBlock Origin extension. This can probably be overcome by the options in uBlock Origin, although I don't know how to do that at the moment. In any case, this will have no effect on other people coming to your Vanilla site. Given that the uBlock Origin extension is VERY popular, you need to know that visits from people with this extension are not being counted in Views.
@rasteron One thing that would be handy in a plugin like that, if you were going to make one, would be to get the video to display the title bar and controls straight away rather than just an image that had to be clicked to pull up the actual video, so that the embedded videos appear straight-away on the forum page just as they do on the YouTube site, then the plugin would serve two useful purposes at once. Just a thought.
Thanks. I will load v.1.5 shortly and see how it goes.
Incidentally, I know next to nothing about PHP but when I open spamips.php in Dreamweaver it tells me that there is a syntax error at line 2 where the IP addresses start. I suppose it is just Dreamweaver being quirky, but just thought I should mention it in case it has a point!
Ah, I suspected it was something like that. Thanks for confirming.
As for viewing it via the dashboard, you can do that? I have to work on things in Dreamweaver and FTP to the site. Have I missed a secret panel in the dashboard or something?
I am happy doing things in Dreamweaver and using FTP, it doesn't need dashboard access. I want a local copy anyway.
