Re: Adding new message types
Yes, that's great guys. I could definitely come up with something that works through some combination of pre and post-processing. Can I draw your attention for one sec to the fact the Markdown formatter is intended to be extensible in an object-orientated fashion, it's just the code which includes it with a require_once… -
Re: Minecraft Theme
Oh shit I didn't think of that, I moved the discussions button to an area which is hidden when there are no posts, I will need to change that. This is mostly experimental, and all I am is a 17 year old filling in time between maths extension 2 homework and playing video games. I like to do it for free as I get the… -

We have 5 or 6 projects we need to complete. We really need a very very experienced php coder, to take a site we have designed from flat files to dynamic awesomeness ! You will need experience of mysql, and creation of secure db and utilising economical server resources. So clean efficient secure code. We currently have 2… -
Re: Purchase Role for 1 Year
Ok that is a feature that was never actually implemented due to technical reasons. I just forgot to take that out of the view, I have no plans to support to recurring payments on this system. Sorry for any confusion. When the period is up they can purchase again, that is what people are doing, and did so for 2.0. Having… -
Re: Customize your tooltip now possible
I have been trying to get this to work for at least two years... And finally serendipity came to pass and it clicked in my brain. It is odd how spontaneous learning and understanding happen. Usually at around 2:00 am.... I just got an idea for an extension to this plugin. Basically a way to make text or image links posted… -
Re: Core and Addon Upkeep, Maintenance, and Support
phpBB is not really playing catch up, hell they froze new development for years. Their aim is super stability. I submitted a extension ages ago it has still not been approved. phpBB2 and phpBB 3.0 were terrible true, phpBB 3.1 is rather good actually, and their standards are high, but still has legacy parts (there are… -
Re: Vanilla has had a great CMS for some time
@x00 yeah I don't know about the voting thing? Anyway, I've done extensive work with CMS software and have done some complicated forum/CMS integrations and its always a bloated mess with mismatched styles that is very difficult to support and upgrade over time. There is no reason why Vanilla couldn't be a nice CMS with a… -
Re: Plugin inheritance
In WordPress, I found a group of plugins that all required 1 core "meta" plugin that provided base functionality for all the other plugins in the group. The meta plugin didn't do anything on its own, it just provided a cleaner way for all the others to work. I understand that an abstract class would be the good-and-proper… -
Re: Vanilla is a travesty of poor documentation!
Glad to hear you actually like it! *laughs* :) Have you installed it in IIS? Please do create a Windows install stub, I would be glad to add it to the documentation, and perhaps I can separate out the installation and upgrade instructions to simplify things? Personally I have installed Vanilla 1 multiple times on Linux… -
Re: The future of Vanilla Porter
10 months and 400 commits later, I have a working proof of concept. It can officially port Vanilla into a working Flarum installation in one step. Theoretically it can do any platform that Vanilla Porter supported (about 30 of them) and is fully extensible to easily add any other destination, but it needs more testing…
