Re: One side effect of working with Garden/Vanilla...
Yes I do think it is a really nice, transportable framework. It is not perfect, but it is constantly improving. Personally when they embarked on this project from vanilla 1. I was a little concerned they were creating a lot of work for themselves, and it might be an idea to build on top of existing lower level… -
Re: Premium Theme Licensing?
WordPress has a policy of chasing after folks who don't use GNU GPL2 for themes. We do not have any such policy. We simply say that anything uploaded to the directory on this site must be GPL2-compatible (which does include licenses like MIT & BSD because they are more permissive and don't conflict). Free advice on… -
Re: Error 500, version 2.0.18.4
@Dub Personally, I would clone the current site into a new folder on your web server, clone the DB (plus make a back up) and do the upgrade on the clone. This allows your current site to stay live while you get to sort out any issues You would need to point conf/config.php in the cloned version to your cloned DB, and… -
Re: Is there any way to pull post content through from Vanilla in a sub directory to main html homepage
The AJAX bit is also JavaScript. Don't be turned off by it - if you're new, you can probably figure it out quick enough with a tutorial from W3 Schools and just messing with a test HTML doc on your computer. Or better you can use something like jsfiddle which will give you real time results and let you share your code so… -
Recent wave of notification spam and what I did
Note: I realize this isn't a once-size-fits-all solution, but I wanted to throw this out there for anyone else who is having the same problem. Recently (as of late August, according to the activity log on my forum) there has been a rash of bots signing up on my forum and setting an activity message in what I can only think… -
Re: Vanilla Awards for best Community developed plugin, theme and application.
* Best Plugin - This may sound silly, but "Jump to top" is something that's so simple and so useful, it's a mystery as to why all websites don't have it built in. I often find myself automatically reaching for the button on most websites now, only to find it's not there. Scrolling feels archaic and inefficient after this… -
Re: Is vanillaforums development dead/dying?
Am i missing something or is this company on the way out? The company is fiscally healthy and growing, to my knowledge, and I'm confident development continues at the same pace as ever. That out of the way, I understand why you were concerned. Vanilla, from the top, has always been committed to "being open source", but… -
Re: This plugin is needed on this forum asap!!
I think if you ask a question - you are starting a discussion. so you "own" that discussion and it relates to your version. me too questions (should usually start another discussion, especially if it is a different vanilla version or at least post their version #) otherwise it is assumed they have the same version as the… -

I am seeking feedback before I upload it to the plugin repository. github link Here are the main features: * Support for both ATOM and RSS… -
Ads Support ,Push Notifications and Modern User Friendly Language
As a user of vanilla communities for more than 5 years and as community owner for one year. I have all praises for the software. Without going in positive details i will like to draw attention to important shortcomings. As an community owner, everyone, even non profit community will like to recover costs. Vanilla totally…
