We're just starting to develop it. Won't be live for a while as there is still much styling and things to do. We're going to use it to replace http://www.intelforum.swichon.info/ . We liked the look of that smf, but not the headaches that go with it - Portal package upgrades failing and such.
So, once we found that Vanilla embeds, we decided to use a Builder powered Wordpress as the portal to our Vanilla Forum because Builder just rocks. Seems to be working well so far.
I am using Vanilla forum for the newest revision of http://utahbands.com! Utahbands has been around the internet since the late 90's and has been a staple of musician commerce and networking since long before facebook and myspace. Many bands formed on utahbands.com and some have even gone on to be pretty famous. Members of The Used and Broke City have all frequented the site and forums. After a down period of a little over a year and a half, the site has had to go from pretty much ground zero requiring many security updates and site upgrades. Vanilla is now a major part of bringing back the site, as it will connect people through existing social media networks like never before. Thank you vanilla!
I installed imported a small Simple:Press installation last night into Vanilla. Today, I installed and themed it to match my website. I'm using the Gray Vanilla Default theme with only a few tweaks to make it all fit nicely. I do have some integration bugs hanging around with logout, I'm hoping that someone can help out with it in my other thread.
Either way, all the features are there and the embed looks good. I love love clean feature set, such a huge improvement over the javascript mess that Simple:Press was becoming (good forums, but a lot overhead).
Did an update on my site with the latest version of Vanilla (2.0.17). Since it gives better category and homepage management, I was able to layout things again.
I did a bunch of styling to customize things, including using TypeKit fonts. I installed TypeKit into Vanilla and into my WordPress site. Now I have a uniform fontface across my entire website (major part of embedding things like Vanilla). Now, my WP site + Vanilla actually looks like one website instead of a fractured one cobbled together.
Thanks to Mark and the Vanilla team, I now have the best looking and most advanced forum on the internet for my niche!
