Integration with WordPress

edited November 2006 in Vanilla 1.0 Help
What about integration of Vanilla with WP? Is it possible? What I mean is simply being able to log in once and use both applications. It'd bring more people for the Vanilla development since there are so many who use WP.

  • from what i understood from a previous discussion, vanilla and wp use very different log-in structures. everything is possible, but i highly doubt it will a vanilla core option.
  • Hence the birth of swell. For all those people who are tired with wordpress
  • I wouldn't hold you breath though
  • For reference, the 2 existing threads on WP integration are: http://lussumo.com/community/discussion/189/wordpress-plugin-requests-too-early-for-this/ http://lussumo.com/community/discussion/1519/use-some-tables-from-wordpress/ I'd agree that easing integration with WP would open up a big market for Vanilla...
  • Yeah, yeah, yeah... Everyone's waiting for the Swell soft. But I'm fed up with the promises! When are you gonna release it?!
  • When it's done?
  • More more Faster faster
  • mark, you've got a nerve - releasing all this free software when it suits you. how can you sleep at night?!
  • I DEMAND INSTANT GRATIFICATION
  • Something is missing here... Oh! This thread needs someone asking when Vanilla 1.0 will be released.
  • Hey guys kinda off topic but, any idea when Vanilla 1.0 will be released?
  • My site also uses WP as the main site with Vanilla as the forum. I'd love to have them integrated in some way. Obviously, using vanilla/swell would be best however I'm not going to migrate the whole WP over to another system any time soon. It would be nice if at the very least, the user accounts could be the same. For example, if someone makes an account on the forum it will work with WP, and vice versa.
  • Do a search for "External integration" and you should find some help on how to do that. I have that working now with my PostNuke site thanks to Mark's recent developments.
  • Methinks it's time for the ole Wordpress login integration to rear it's ugly head... c'mon folks... who knows how to do this? Wordpress forum is also crammed with people asking how to...
  • BUMP

  • I too could use this (Note to self (Save this post for 2007 when Swell is released): Need Wordpress to Swell migrator). Perhaps we should post this over at Wordpress as a way of generating interest. Wasn't there a Wordpress developer (no maybe that was Drupal) here at Lussumo?

http://wordpress.org/support/topic/40164 I think it was a Drupal developer actually...
  • Nice one. I've got to go off and read a book, but when I get back I expect one of them to have done it ; )
  • Hahah
  • I'm sure Swell (http://www.swellit.com/) will be amazing but I'm just not sure it can compete with WP? Its just the WP community is *huge* isn't it! Although , if Swell integrates nicely with Vanilla and has A+ SEO features then I would be sold.
