Is a "Dev Tracker" possible?

For a given installation of Vanilla Forums, is there a way to identify a group of users as "developers" and have a category that only populates posts devs have started or participated in?
If anyone is familiar with Blizzard games and their forums you will know what I'm talking about:

You could probably use the "Promoted Content" module as a foundation for a plugin that would do what you need: https://github.com/vanillaforums/Garden/blob/master/applications/vanilla/modules/class.promotedcontentmodule.php

Not "out of the box", as far as I know. You would probably need a plugin for that (complexity varies with requirements).

That indeed does look like it fits the bill, thank you!
Well, it happened. Kasper showed me something I didn't know was in Vanilla.
as hgtonight says to forum users, "Welcome to Vanilla Forums", Lincoln you will learn many things in these forum discussions . and hope you decide to stay.
I may not provide the completed solution you might desire, but I do try to provide honest suggestions to help you solve your issue.
Yup, that's exactly what Promoted Content is for. It has ways to select posts based on Roles already built in. We used it on http://forums.unknownworlds.com for exactly that.

@Tim Off topic, but I love Natural Selection 2!
I never would have guessed that was a Vanilla forum either.
