When I have to use git I'm completely lost and everytime have to read again the documentation (why couldn't that be as easy as using folders?) So I have a GUI client that makes it easier for me: http://www.sourcetreeapp.com/
I would like to add that there is another interesting strategy, which is the one we use: http://scottchacon.com/2011/08/31/github-flow.html. We adopted it because we found it easier to follow and manage.
