Need to sort discussions by Date Created, not Most Recent Comment

Damn, I fell prey to having 2.2 on my test site which has that bug fixed.

The only way I can think of to do it in a plugin would be (if you run php 5.4):

public function DiscussionModel_BeforeGet_Handler($Sender) {
    $GetPrivateObject = function &($Object, $Item) {
        $Result = &Closure::bind(function &() use ($Item) {
            return $this->$Item;
        }, $Object, $Object)->__invoke();
        return $Result;
    };
    $OrderBy = &$GetPrivateObject($Sender->SQL, '_OrderBys');
    $OrderBy[0] = 'd.DateInserted desc';
}

Not a very clean solution, as it modifies a private property in a hacky way, see: http://vanillaforums.org/discussion/comment/188935/#Comment_188935

Another solution would be to modify the core and wait for this to get fixed in the next version of 2.1:/

The hacky plugin option works - I look forward tot he bug fix making it's way into 2.1 versions.

@rbrahmson whatever I think which plugins should be used here is not important: I'm only the janitor. If you want to change the forums interior you need to talk to the owner.

My opinion concerning "offtopic" and "necro" is quite liberal. If you think something fits somewhere, write it down. Does it really hurt?

I don't understand the drama, the solution is for version 2.1, I'm updating the topic indicating that it works for version 2.3.1, maybe someone can help this information.
